A code first fire protection engineering practice.
DGA Consulting is a licensed fire protection engineering firm serving owners, developers, architects, and contractors across New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.
Approach
How the firm works.
DGA Consulting was founded on a straightforward premise: the fire protection problems that actually matter to building owners are the ones generic templates cannot solve. Alternate means and methods requests that need real code analysis. Special occupancies where prescriptive rules leave gaps. Federal projects that require deep familiarity documentation standards. Historic buildings where modern life safety has to be reconciled with existing construction.
The firm's engagement model reflects this reality: small teams, direct engineer contact, and deliverables written and stamped by licensed Professional Engineers rather than passed to junior drafters. On most projects, the engineer who walks the site is the engineer who writes the report and seals the drawings.
Every DGA Consulting engagement starts with understanding the actual code environment of a given project. The firm does not apply boilerplate. Every recommendation ties back to a specific applicable standard, a governing jurisdiction, and the realities of how the building will be used.
Credentials
Who signs the work.
01
Licensed Professional Engineers
Active PE licenses in New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania, with the ability to stamp and seal engineering documents in all three jurisdictions.
02
Society of Fire Protection Engineers
Active professional members of the SFPE, the international organization of fire protection engineering practitioners and researchers.
03
NFPA Involvement
Ongoing participation with the National Fire Protection Association on technical standards development and consensus code making activities.
04
Field Experience
Hundreds of fire pump acceptance tests, facility surveys, and AHJ coordination engagements across industrial, federal, commercial, and healthcare occupancies.
Every deliverable DGA Consulting produces is prepared, reviewed, and sealed by licensed Professional Engineers.
Structure
Why the fee is different.
Fire protection engineering is priced less by the hour than by the organization behind the hour. A national firm's rate has to carry regional offices, business development staff, several layers of project management, and a bench of engineers between assignments. All of that is real cost, and all of it reaches the client's invoice whether or not it ever touched the project.
DGA Consulting is built the other way around. The firm carries close to no overhead by design: no sales organization, no account layer, no drafting pool waiting on work. Engagements are staffed by the licensed Professional Engineers who will sign them, which means a client's fee pays for engineering rather than for the structure around it.
In practice, DGA Consulting proposals frequently come in well below a national firm's for identical scope, and the work is usually handled by a more senior engineer than a large firm would assign to a project of that size.
None of this changes the standard of the work, and it is not a discount. The applicable codes, the calculations, the analysis, and the professional seal are the same regardless of firm size. DGA Consulting deliverables are prepared to withstand the same Authority Having Jurisdiction scrutiny as any national firm's, because that is the only standard worth working to.
Engagement
What to expect.
Most DGA Consulting engagements begin with a short discovery conversation, followed by a written scope and fee proposal. From there, the typical sequence is site visit or document review, engineering analysis, a draft deliverable for client review, and final signed documents suitable for submission to the Authority Having Jurisdiction.
The firm maintains direct engineer access throughout every project. Clients speak to the licensed PE who is actually doing the work, not an account manager.
When AHJ coordination is required, DGA Consulting conducts that coordination on behalf of the client, including pre submission meetings, response to review comments, and follow up documentation.
Client information is handled with discretion. The firm does not name clients in marketing without explicit permission, and case studies are anonymized by industry and region by default.
