What the work looks like.
DGA Consulting is a small, licensed fire protection engineering practice. Engineers here work directly on substantive problems alternate means and methods analysis, life safety and egress evaluation, sprinkler and fire alarm design, and federal compliance rather than being handed routine production work.
The firm's model is deliberately lean: small teams, direct client contact, and deliverables written and stamped by licensed Professional Engineers. On most projects, the engineer who walks the site is the engineer who writes the report and seals the drawings. That means real ownership, real code analysis, and exposure to the full arc of a project from discovery through AHJ coordination.
The firm serves clients across New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.

There is no single profile, and credentials matter less than judgment and rigor. That said, the people who tend to thrive here share a few things:
Fire protection focus
Licensed Professional Engineers, or engineers on the fire protection track (EIT / FE on the way to the PE), with genuine interest in fire protection .
Care for the detail
The conviction that on life safety work, the details are the work and that getting them right is worth the effort.
Ownership
Comfort owning a problem end to end, communicating directly with clients and authorities, and standing behind sealed work.
Code fluency
Working familiarity with NFPA standards, the International Codes, and the practical realities of designing to and arguing within an applicable code framework.
Internships
For students.
DGA Consulting also welcomes
engineering students and recent graduates interested in fire protection. Internships here are hands on: interns work alongside licensed engineers on real code analysis, life safety review, and field work not busy work and leave with a with genuine interest in fire protection.
The firm is glad
to hear from students pursuing degrees in fire protection engineering, mechanical or civil engineering, or related fields, particularly those considering the PE track. Both summer and part time arrangements are possible, depending on the student's schedule and the firm's current workload.
